ARTIST’S STATEMENT: My paintings are large scale, abstract compositions. I paint with the canvas on the floor, walking around it as though flying over a landscape. At a height from where the simplicity of dots and lines can be complex. There is no up or down, left or right. My work is investigative. It feels unfinished. Like a sketchbook. I am intrigued by the spontaneity of children’s paintings.I draw inspiration from the ordinary. From the rust marks on metal to the graffiti and decay of Melbourne’s laneways. From the weathering of piers to the changing mood of the ocean, from monochromatic textures to brilliant blues and greens.
